Nick and Richard talking to a young lady about her candle business

A few weeks ago, we visited the first-ever Business Fair from the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Haywards Heath (YEAHH) at The Orchards Shopping Centre. Organised by Haywards Heath Town Council in partnership with the local Business Association, schools and The Orchards, the event brought together a group of young people who have been developing business ideas through a series of hands-on masterclasses.

The program is a fantastic opportunity to give young minds a space to think commercially, create something they believe in, and then take it to the public.

What We Saw

At the fair, we had the chance to speak with the young business owners and hear directly about their ideas. Each stall reflected personal effort and clear thinking, with a mix of handmade products, surveys and treats.

There were a lot of really promising businesses showcased at the event:

  • A business selling quality handmade cakes

  • A business selling scented candles set in cups and mugs, thoughtfully sourced from charity shops

  • A business selling unique and exotic desserts

  • A future travel agent surveying travel preferences

  • An idea for a personal fitness service that compiles useful advice and provides one-to-one personal training sessions

It was great to speak to each and every one and hear the ambition behind their visions and where they planned to go with it in the future.

Why It Matters

There’s a lot to be said for the confidence to stand behind your idea. It’s one of the things we value most at Branding Box. Seeing it in a group of teenagers? Now that’s worth talking about!

Thank You

Thank you to the team behind YEAHH, the volunteers, the schools involved, and everyone who turned up to support. Most of all, thank you to the young business owners who let us in on their ideas.

It was a great experience, and we look forward to seeing how these ideas continue to develop into the businesses of tomorrow!
